PUNCH Metro gathered that immediately the fire started, emergency responders, who stormed the station discovered that it was caused by fuel spillage from a tanker laden with 33,000 litres of petrol.
The spokesperson, Lagos State Emergency Management Agency, Nosa Okunbor, said the fire was extinguished by officials of the agency and the Lagos State Fire Service.
Okunbor stated, “The LASEMA Response Team in swift response earlier this morning extinguished the fire at the Yerevan Oil, a filling station located on Ajayi Road in Ogba Aguda, Lagos State.
“On arrival, investigation by the LASEMA Response Team revealed that the fire outbreak occurred as a result of spillage from the tanker laden with 33,000 litres of Premium Motor Spirit.
“However, the inferno was quickly extinguished due to the prompt response of the agency’s team in conjunction with the Lagos State Fire team.
“The leaky valve, which is the source of the inferno, has been shut off; the fire has been extinguished, while blanketing of the truck and entire area is ongoing to avert any secondary incident.”
